SAGUNA BAUG - Village in itself
With loads of work and daily routine everyone is so
stress about their life and a little getaway from the daily chores will always
bring smile on anyone’s face.
One day I got a chance to visit Saguna Baug from my
college for our industrial visit. This place is located in Neral - 2 hours’ drive
from Mumbai. Here you can enjoy village life, as the whole baug is
infrastructure with mud houses, lakes, animals, etc. The baug is full of
calmness, tranquility and enjoyment. There farming of
different vegetables, fruits and grains takes place.
I went there to learn about the farming and other
related activities. It was a one-day trip. We went by road from Mumbai to Neral,
the journey till there was awesome. Once we reached there we had our breakfast,
the authentic Maharashtrian Misal Pav. After that I and my college friends went
to learn about farming. We had a guide to tell us about the crops, the way they
are grown, harvested, etc. We had our itinerary planed. After looking around
and exploring for a while they served us Kokum sherbet which was refreshing
drink. There are lots of activities which include boating, swimming, etc. A
buffalo ride in the pond was one of the best attractive adventure I had. The
lunch was delicious, it had a normal cuisine with roti’s, sabzis, sweet, dal
and rice. There was a Malakham performance by the local school boys which gave
me goosebumps. Having a very little time we were not been able to do all the
activities. The best part about the place is that there are hammocks and swings
around so one can sit and relax a little. The other good thing is that there is
a water bottles in every distance. The best time to visit this place is in
winter.
There are dormitories, pond house, bungalows,
cottages. One can stay there for a night or two. To reach there you can either
go by road or by trains. The place is worth experiencing. I had an incredible
time.
